ARTICLE I | SIBONGA COMMUNITY COLLEGE AT A GLANCE

Sometime in early 2008, Hon. Lionel E. Bacaltos broached the idea of establishing a tertiary education in Sibonga for the benefit of the constituents. He must have seen the fact that education when administered properly is a very potent force to combat poverty which has manacled our lesser fortunate constituents, the Sangguniang Bayan on its 38th Regular Session, held on May 15, 2008, passed a Sanggunian Resolution No. 043-2008, a Resolution Approving Sanggunian Ordinance No. 2008-001 An Ordinance Establishing “Sibonga Community College”. The College shall offer affordable and quality education primarily but not exclusively to Sibonganhons with the end view that education shall be within everyone’s reach, it shall provide tertiary education and technical and vocational courses.

The Sibonga Community College was established in accordance with Section 1, Article XIV of the Philippine Constitution which provides that the state shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels and shall take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all and in pursuance to Batas Pambansa Blg. 232 otherwise known as the “Education Act of 1982” and in consonance with R.A. 7160, otherwise known as the “Local Government Code of 1991”.

The local government of Sibonga owns a parcel of land in Barangay Poblacion identified as lot No. 479-Part, CAD 325-D, Sibonga Cadastre, declared under TD No. 42-0001-01127. In consideration of a desire to contribute and share for a cause of education and the Sibonganhon students inspire to convey a portion of the land by way of Usufruct a portion of the above parcel of land together with all the buildings and improvements found thereon containing Five Thousand Four Hundred (5,400) square meter.

On the 56th Regular Session dated September 05, 2017, Ordinance No. 10 2017-39 granted the Local Chief Executive Mayor Caroline S. Bacaltos to represent the Municipality of Sibonga and sign the Deed of Usufruct with Sibonga Community College represented by the Assisting School Director, Mr. Antonio Ll. Camomot.
